The Winchesters–the upcoming prequel series to the long-running Supernatural on The CW–starts its run Oct. 11, and a more expansive trailer (following up on the brief teaser dropped last week) has been released. Check out the video on this page.

This trailer sheds more light on the series, as well as highlighting the return of Dean Winchester–played by Jensen Ackles–who acts as narrator of the new show.

The Winchesters–written by executive producer Robbie Thompson–tells the backstory of John and Mary, the parents of Sam and Dean Winchester.

In the show, when John Winchester (Drake Rodger) returns home from Vietnam, a “mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father’s past,” according to the synopsis. John “crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), who is searching for answers after the disappearance of her father.”

The cast also includes Bridget Regan as DJ Rockin’ Roxy, Bianca Kajilich as Millie Winchester, Demetria McKinney as Ada Monroe, Nida Khurshid as Latika Desai and Jojo Fleites as Carlos Cervantez.
