Givin’ those ghosts the cold shoulder.
The upcoming sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife now has an official title and its first teaser trailer, according to a report on Deadline. Check out the new video on this page.
The film–slated for a March 29, 2024 theatrical release–is called Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is a pretty good hint about the storyline.
The movie’s just-released synopsis continues the story of Egon Spengler’s kin–daughter Callie (Carrie Coon) and two grandchildren, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trever (Finn Wolfhard)–as “the hottest New York City on record is experiencing a death chill after an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force.”
Predictably, it’s up the Spenglers to team up with original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) to thaw out the Big Apple.
Directed by Gil Kenan from a screenplay he wrote with producer Jason Reitmen, the film also stars the returning Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani and Paul Rudd.
The original 1984 Ghostbusters–directed by Ivan Reitman from a screenplay by Aykroyd and Harold Ramis–follows three parapsychologists who operate a ghost-catching business in Manhattan. The Oscar-nominated film earned nearly $300 million at the global box office.
