‘Last of Us II’ Release Date Moved to June After Leaked Plot Points Hit Internet

Some people were looking forward to the sequel to the PlayStation 4 horror game The Last of Us, but some people couldn’t wait a minute longer!  Major story and game play details for Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us Part II were recently leaked online, forcing the company to move the game’s release to a date much sooner than the one they had planned for.  The Last of Us Part II will now be available on June 19.

Naughty Dog responded to the leaks by posting a message to fans  on their twitter feed, stating that the company found the reveals “disappointing” and asked people to “do your best to avoid spoilers”.

The original leak came in the form of a YouTube video (that has since been removed), but details from the leak have been shared in the form of reposted videos and numerous threads on gaming forums.

Seemingly because of these leaks, Sony announced a new release date for The Last of Us Part 2 on Monday: June 19. Although the official twitter post announcing the release date doesn’t mention the leaks specifically, the timing of the news certainly suggests that this might be the case.

The Last of Us II was initially slated for a street date of May 29.
