Kristen Stewart Talks About Possible ‘Scream’ Roles

Would Kristen Stewart dump Edward Cullen for Ghostface?

It’s not that far-fetched. The Oscar nominee said in a recent interview that she was almost part of the bloody opening scene of Scream 4, but she felt daunted by the prospect of trying to fill Drew Barrymore’s shoes, according to a report on comicbook.com.

As fans know, that Scream entry wound up using a different approach–using multiple actors in its opening scene instead of just one–but Stewart said she might have been part of that moment.

“It was just going to be one person (at the start),” Stewart told Slant magazine, “and I was like, ‘I can’t do a Drew. I can’t touch that’.”

But, Stewart continued, “they ended up doing–if I’m remembering correctly–a larger sequence and not just one victim.” Ah, but what could have been.

But, given that near-miss, would she be interested in a role in the upcoming Scream 6, slated to start shooting over the summer?

“Maybe,” Stewart admitted. “I would read the script. I love Neve Campbell so much. She was very nice to me. And I love that movie. It’s so gnarly.”

Stewart added that the “coolest part of Scream is what it says about film. It’s so self-aware. I love how much (Wes Craven) loves movies and how embedded that is.”

The actor explained that Scream is “not just a slasher film. It’s a beautiful movie, but it’s so hard to watch. It’s very, very, very intense.”

The latest Scream installment–which hit theaters earlier this year–topped the $100-million mark globally, sparking interest in yet another sequel from the same creative team of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
