OK, pop quiz time: What’s your favorite Stephen King movie?

King on Screen–a documentary that will highlight the scores of film adaptations of Stephen King’s short stories and novels–now has a summer theatrical release, and a trailer dropped this week to tease the feature. Check out the video on this page.

The Dark Star Pictures film hits the big screen Aug. 11, and will have a Blu-ray and on-demand release in time for Christmas–on Dec. 8.

The movie–directed by Daphne Baiwir–documents the cinematic takes on the horror master’s works, starting with Brian de Palma’s 1976 Carrie. Since then, more than 50 directors have made more than 80 films and series based on King stories.

King on Screen reunites such King adapters as Frank Daraboni (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile), Tom Holland (The Langoliers), Mick Garris (The Stand), Taylor Hackford (Dolores Claiborne) and many more for comments and insights into the appeal of the bestselling author.
