The latest R.L. Stine young adult horror tales to grace the small screen will land in homes in a couple of weeks.
Just Beyond–an eight-episode anthology series based on Stine’s BOOM! Studios YA graphic novels of the same name–will hit Disney+ Oct. 13, according to syfy.com. And the official trailer just dropped–check it out on this page.
The series–part of the Hallowstream event on Disney+–will spotlight spooky stories about witches, aliens, ghosts and parallel dimensions. Each episode, as explained, will feature new characters who “must go on a surprising journey of self-discovery in a supernatural world.”
Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dark Shadows) is the screenwriter and showrunner of the series, with Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider–Man) directing the first two episodes.
Stine, the man behind the Goosebumps phenomenon, said he is “thrilled” to have his graphic novels adapted on Disney+. “Writing Just Beyond for BOOM! Studios has been a joy, and I’m so happy to have Seth Grahame-Smith being the series to life,” he said.
Grahame-Smith–who grew up watching Twilight Zone reruns and the original Amazing Stories–said he has always wanted to “make a genre anthology series that families could enjoy together. R.L. Stine has been a part of millions of childhoods, and Disney+ has proven itself as a place that knows how to make high-quality shows for the whole family.”
