Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele has officially said “yup” to Nope.
Peele’s third feature film–following up on his successes with Get Out and Us–this week finished production, according to a report in Variety, and is on target for its July 22, 2022 theatrical debut.
It also was revealed his week that noted cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema–with such hits as Interstellar and Dunkirk on his resume–had worked on Nope. The horror film from Universal Pictures reportedly was shot “on Kodak film, including 65mm film in IMAX format.”
Details on the storyline have been scarce, but it was reported that Nope will follow “in the same vein” as Peele’s past two efforts–“terrifying and subversive tales full of socially conscious thematics in regard to race and society.”
Nope–which Peele wrote, directed and co-produced (with Ian Cooper)–stars Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) , Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Brandon Perea (The OA) and Michael Wincott (The Crow).
Peele has also kept busy in the genre by serving as executive producer of the critically acclaimed Lovecraft Country TV show and the recent revival of The Twilight Zone. He also co-wrote and produced the recent Candyman reboot.
