DC announced today that horror legend John Carpenter will be teaming up with Anthony Burch (Borderlands 2) for the 40-page one-shot The Joker: Year of the Villain. Philip Tan and Marc Deering will be the artists bringing to life Carpenter’s foray into the DC Universe.
“The Joker is the greatest villain in comics,” said Carpenter. “I’m proud to be reunited with Anthony on this project,” as the two have previously collaborated on BOOM! Studios’ Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack miniseries.
The story is said to follow the Joker as he looks to get his swagger back in a world gone bad by out-badding everyone else, proving that the greatest evil is always the one that leaves them laughing.
The Joker was first introduced in Batman #1 which premiered way back in 1940. While he has always been written as insane and evil, could we possibly see the master of horror up the ante with the character?
The Joker: Year of the Villain is set for release October 9th. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for the latest on this project.
