John C. McGinley (Scurbs) has been cast as the lead in Stan Against Evil. The IFC scripted-comedy horror series comes from writer Dana Gould.   The show has a 10-episode order and will premiere in the Fall. Actress -comedian Janet Varney (You’re the Worst) is also cast in the series.

The story is centered around Stanley Miller (McGinley), an aging, impatient and judgmental New England police sheriff who lost his position as top dog after an angry outburst at his wife’s funeral.

Stan begrudgingly forms an alliance with the new sheriff Evie Barret (Varney), who opens his eyes to the truth of the plague of angry demons haunting their small town in New Hampshire.

McGinley, who is also a producer on the show, said, “Dana has crafted the most deliciously combustible, subversive contrarian on television. And we are going to set it off!”

Executive producers of the series include Gould, Tom Lassally of 3 Arts, Frank Scherma & Justin Wilkes of RadicalMedia.   Stan Against Evil   is set to begin filming in Atlanta this June.
