John Beasley–a genre actor who most recently appeared in last year’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Firestarter–has passed away at age 79, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Beasley–who had been undergoing tests for a liver disorder–reportedly passed away in a hospital in his hometown of Omaha, Neb.
Beasley–who worked for the Union Pacific Railroad before deciding to become a full-time actor–started his career in 1989 with roles in such features as The Mighty Ducks, Untamed Heart, The Sum of All Fears and Walking Tall.
Before Firestarter, Beasley appeared in such genre films as Lost Souls (2000), The Gift (2000), Haunted Maze (2013) and The Purge: Anarchy (2014).
Beasley is survived by his wife Judy; sons Michael and Tyrone; daughter-in-law Katie; and grandchildren Evan, Miles, Olivia, Mika, Darius and Malik.
