Things are starting to pick up for the latest film in the Scream franchise. A new day brings a new announcement as Jenna Ortega has officially signed on for Scream 5, according to a report by Deadline.
Yesterday we reported that Melissa Barrera joined the flick in an undisclosed role. Both actresses will join Courtney Cox and David Arquette who’ll reprise their respective roles as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley.
Ortega, who is perhaps best known for her roles in You as Ellie and Young Jane in Jane the Virgin, has also appeared in Iron Man 3, Deadtime Stories, Richie Rich and Stuck in the Middle. Her next film, The Babysitter: Killer Queen will air September 10, 2020 on Netflix.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the Radio Silence film team will direct Scream 5 which is based on a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick.
