This just in, reports from Variety and Deadline confirm British film star George Young (Grace, A Bread Factory, Containment) will be starring as the male lead opposite Annabelle Wallis (The Loudest Voice, Annabelle) in James Wan’s upcoming secret horror movie which is under the working title Silvercup.
In addition, casting has continued to expand with Percy Jackson and Supernatural alum Jake Abel signing on.
The film, which has a plot being kept tightly under wraps, is based on a story by Wan and Ingrid Bisu, who starred in The Nun and recently got engaged to the 42-year-old Australian director. Wan will also produce the film through his Atomic Monster banner alongside Michael Clear. The film is being financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will distribute in China as New Line handles the remaining distribution.
Long before he found a name for himself in the action film industry with directorial work on Furious 7 and Aquaman, Wan was shaping the horror genre for modern audiences, having co-created the Saw and Insidious franchises and New Line Cinema’s The Conjuring Universe, which has grossed over $1.8 billion worldwide on a combined $139.5 million budget, becoming the second highest-grossing horror franchise ever behind Godzilla.
