Before becoming one of the world’s most popular writer/directors with his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, James Gunn was known by horror fans for 2006’s Slither. Now, Gunn will be returning to the world of horror with a yet-to-be-titled feature starring Elizabeth Banks!
Variety reports that Gunn will serve as producer of the film along with The H Collective (Wolf Warrior II), and David Yarovesky (The Hive) will direct. The movie’s script was co-written by Gunn’s brothers, Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn, who previously wrote 2012’s Dwayne Johnson vehicle, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Elizabeth Banks previously worked with James Gunn on Slither, but her vast resume has been largely free of horror projects with the exception of this upcoming release. Gunn had the following to say about the project announcement:
“Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005. She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project.”
