If there’s one franchise could provide potentially limitless content it would have to be The Purge. The series has spawned four films and a TV series which is currently airing on the USA Network. Franchise creator James DeMonaco recently told Entertainment Weekly that he has an idea for the next entry in the series, which he also thinks will be the last.
“I have it in my head,” says DeMonaco. “I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”
It seems like an odd time to kill his creation as the latest installment of the franchise The First Purge was the most successful yet, bringing in over $136 million worldwide. The Purge films have been mammoth hits as the total budget for all four flicks is near $35 million while the box office gross is over $446 million.
