They Follow–the sequel to the 2014 horror pic It Follows–is eyeing a 2024 production start, with the original filmmaker and star returning for the follow-up, according to a report on Deadline.
David Robert Mitchell will direct again from his screenplay, and star Maika Monroe will reprise her lead role as Jay Height. NEON will handle sales at this week’s American Film Market. No plot details have yet been announced.
Mitchell will also serve as producer–alongside Jake Weiner, Chris Bender, David Kaplan, Erik Rommesmo, Rebecca Green and Laura Smith.
It Follows–written and directed by Mitchell–stars Monroe as a young woman who is pursued by a supernatural entity after a sexual encounter.
After a profitable limited release, It Follows enjoyed a wide release, raking in more than $23 million worldwide against a $1.3-million budget.
