Is A ‘Smile’ Sequel On The Horizon From Paramount?

by Thomas Tuna

Another reason for horror fans to flash their pearly whites.

Parker Finn–the writer/director behind last year’s surprise horror smash Smile–this week inked a multiyear, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Can you say “sequel”?

Paramount distributed Smile–which raked in an impressive $216 million worldwide–so fans of the film will look with optimism on this new deal.

No details about Parker’s next project have been revealed at this time, but sources indicate he will write, direct and produce more horror features. And since Paramount reportedly is interested in a Smile sequel, fans should be able to connect the dots.

The success of Smile “is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking,” said Paramount president Brian Robbins, “and we’re thrilled that he will make Paramount his home. Parker knows how to keep people on the edge of their seats.”
