Immortality has its price.
The fourth episode of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire–the small-screen adaptation of the classic Anne Rice horror novel–airs tomorrow, Oct. 23, and a clip of the show has dropped to preview the dramatic moment when the child Claudia is “made” by the vampire Lestat. Check out the video–on comicbook.com.
This weekend’s episode–The Ruthless Pursuit of Blood With All A Child’s Demanding--follows Louis (Jacob Anderson) as he gives the interviewer Molloy (Eric Bogosian) access to Claudia’s diaries, “which offer a fresh and contemporaneous account of the creation of the fledgling vampire and how her vampire guardians adjust to their new family of three,” according to the synopsis.
Claudia’s origin in the series differs somewhat from the Rice novel’s account, but actor Bailey Bass said that, “at the end of the day, she’s the same Claudia. She has the same essence as in the book. You see this feral, powerful, strong, craving, independent person–that little vampire who’s stuck in this body. All we did was make it 1910, and change what the character looks like a little bit.”
Interview with the Vampire follows Lestat (Sam Reid), Louis and Claudia in an “epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality,” according to the logline.
In the show, Louis finds Lestat’s offer to join him as his vampire companion “impossible to resist”. But the introduction of the child vampire Claudia “sends them on a long path of revenge and atonement.”
The show–already renewed for an eight-episode second season–also stars Assad Zaman as Rashid and Kalyne Coleman as Grace, Louis’s sister.
