When is a teddy bear much, much more?
Imaginary–a Blumhouse/Lionsgate horror entry that has now wrapped production–this week announced recent additions to its cast, according to Variety.
Tom Payne (The Walking Dead) and Betty Buckley (the Tony Award-winning Broadway star known for Cats and Sunset Boulevard)–along with Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Matthew Sato and Veronica Falcon–have joined lead DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World: Dominion) in the feature.
The film–slated for a theatrical release March 8, 2024–is directed by Jeff Wadlow (The Curse of Bridge Hollow) from a screenplay he wrote with Greg Erb, Jason Oremland and Bryce McGuire.
Imaginary–produced by Jason Blum and Wadlow–follows a woman named Jessica (Wise), who moves back into her childhood home with her stepdaughter Alice–who develops a strange attachment to a stuffed toy bear named Chauncey.
As Alice plays with the teddy near, the games become increasingly more sinister, and the girl’s behavior becomes the cause for concern. And then, when Jessica tries to intervene, she realizes that Chauncey “is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed it to be”
