Horror Remake of ‘Fantasy Island’ Gets Trailer

Premiering last weekend during screening of Warner Bros.’ Doctor Sleep, Sony Pictures has released online the first trailer for Fantasy Island, a remake to the 1978-1984 fantasy drama television series.

The new film has the secret dreams of some lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. However, when the fantasies turn to nightmares, they have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

The orginal series starred Ricardo Montalbán as Mr. Roarke and Hervé Villechaize as his assistant Tattoo. Guests on the show were granted what were called “fantasies” on the island for a price.

The horror remake is directed by Jeff Wadlow and produced by Jason Blum with his company Blumhouse Productions, and stars include Michael Peña, Lucy Hale, Maggie Q and Michael Rooker.

Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
