While fans continue to hope for Hellboy 3, they may want to catch Ron Perlman in a new horror/thriller.
Perlman has signed on to star–alongside Kate Bosworth and Lin Shaye–in Carrier from Sentient Pictures International, according to a report on Deadline.
In Carrier–from director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) and screenwriters Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane)–a “mysterious phenomenon leads to mass chaos,” and a “splintering family escapes to a small island–but their troubles are only beginning,” according to the synopsis.
Carrier–expected to start shooting this fall in Europe–is produced by Harlin, Daljit DJ Parmar, Pierre Morel, Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin.
Harlin said Carrier boasts a “spellbinding screenplay, which provides me with an arsenal of exceptional characters, non-stop twists and turns and groundbreaking action.” The cast of Perlman, Bosworth and Shaye, he added, “is a genre enthusiast’s dream come true.”
Perlman not only starred in the first two Hellboy feature films, but also appeared in Blade II, Pacific Rim and Nightmare Alley. His TV work includes a starring role in the ’80s cult classic Beauty and the Beast.
Bosworth is known for her role as Lois Lane in Superman Returns, as well as for her appearances in Before I Wake and The Domestics. Shaye is best known to genre fans as Elise Rainier in the Insidious franchise, as well as for her appearances in Ouija, The Final Wish and The Grudge.
