Several Horror Films Receive, Shuffle Dates

Mark your calendars for these important horror movie release dates, according to reports on Deadline.

First up is Insidious, from Sony and Blumhouse Productions which has been set for release on August 29, 2025. This will mark the sixth installment of the spooky franchise, but this is not related to Thread: An Insidious Tale which is set to star Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani.

Another film from Sony, I Know What You Did Last Summer has been given a release date of July 18, 2025. The next entry in the franchise will be directed by Kaytin Robinson and will be released via Columbia Pictures. While the plot is being kept secret at this time, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are expected to return.

Universal was also busy swapping release dates around with a few horror films being affected. Blumhouse’s The Black Phone 2 has moved from June 27, 2025 to October 17, 2025.  M3GAN 2.0 has shifted from May 16, 2025 into June 27, 2025.

In addition, several Blumhouse features received their release date.  The Woman in the Yard will open on March 28, 2025. Drop will premiere on April 11, 2025. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will return just in time for the holiday season on December 5, 2025.
