For horror fans, Halloween season is always on the doorstep–with new and frightening stories to chill the spine.
This autumn, Screen Media will bring The Accursed to theaters (and to homes on VOD), according to a report on Deadline. The possession horror flick, currently in post-production, has yet to get a specific debut date, so stay tuned.
The Accursed–from director Kevin Lewis (Willy’s Wonderland) and screenwriter Rob Kennedy (The Lightbringer)–stars Mena Suvari (American Horror Story), Sarah Grey (Power Rangers), Meg Foster (They Live), Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect) and Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse).
The movie–produced by Marcus Englefield and George Lee–follows Elly (Grey), a young woman who returns home following her mother’s suicide. Haunted by terrifying visions of her mother, she accepts an offer from Alma (Suvari) to be a caregiver for the comatose Ms. Ambrose (Foster) in her isolated cabin.
But Elly “is soon confronted by Mary Lynn (Knapp), a witch hunter who wants to lift the demonic curse that has plagued her family for generations,” according to the official synopsis. Elly then discovers that Ms. Ambrose has “a history in the black arts, as well as a mysterious connection to her mother.”
As Elly tries to unlock the truth with her friend Beth (Dumont), “it becomes all too clear that she was lured to the cabin under false pretenses.”
