Horror Comic Awards: Mini-Series of the Year Goes to ‘Maniac of NY: The Bronx is Burning’

by Rob Caprilozzi

Another year, another strong set of horror mini-series. While there were plenty that deserved praise over the year, one series took blood, scares, and tension to another level.  Welcome to the Bronx, enter at your own risk…especially when Maniac Harry is involved.

We are happy to present the 2022 Horror Comic Award for Mini-Series of the Year to Elliott Kalan, Andrea Mutti and AfterShock Comics for Maniac of NY: The Bronx is Burning. This makes it two years in a row that the series has won this award.

In addition to Maniac of NY, Kalan, who was the former head writer of The Daily Show, has been making a splash on the comic scene having worked on Are You Afraid of Darkseid?, Spider-Man & the X-Men, The Astonishing Spider-Man and more.

Handling the art duties on this series is Andrea Mutti. The Italian-artist is known for his work on Rebels, Infinite Dark, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – War, Prometheus: Life and Death, and Port of Earth.

If you’re a fan of Friday the 13th and love your slashers masked and killing with pointy objects, Maniac of NY is a series that you will want to check out. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on the Horror Comic Awards.
