Horror Comic Awards: Cover of the Year is House of Slaughter

by Rob Caprilozzi

When it comes to horror comic book covers, 2022 did not disappoint. We saw it all – blood, gore, vampires, werewolves, and all things that go bump in the night.

With a plethora of choices to choose from, one cover stood above the rest. We are happy to present the 2022 Horror Comic Award for Cover of the Year to House of Slaughter #6 by artist Kyle Hotz and publisher, BOOM! Studios.

The series, which is set in the world of Something is Killing the Children, explores the secret history of the Order that forged Erica Slaughter into a monster hunter.

Hotz, who is no stranger to the Horror Comic Awards, previously won a Cover of the Year award in 2019 for his work on Morbius #1. His past credits include Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider 2099, Carnage, Zombie, The Hood, Evil Ernie, Criminal Macabre, Justice League Dark, Detective Comics, Man-Thing, and more.
