Courteney Cox has gone from screams to uneasy laughs.
Shining Vale–which wrapped up its first season on Starz last month–has been renewed for another eight-episode season, according to a report in Deadline. There’s no word yet about a debut window for Season 2.
The horror-comedy–from Jeff Astrof, Sharon Horgan, Aaron Kaplan, Warner Bros. Television and Lionsgate TV–stars Scream legacy star Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino, along with Gus Birney, Dylan Gage, Judith Light and Sherilyn Fenn.
In the first season of Shining Vale, Pat (Cox) and Terry Phelps (Kinnear) move to an old Victorian mansion in Connecticut as a last-ditch effort to save their marriage. But things go south pretty quickly.
“Doors slam, the piano plays by itself and when an old-fashioned-looking woman appears to hover outside a window, Pat believes she is going crazy–or worse,” according to the synopsis. “Every family has its demons, but for the Phelps, theirs may be real.”
Astrof–who co-created the series and acts as showrunner–said he is “thrilled to be able to tell the next eight chapters of the Phelps’ story. I look forward to the pressure of trying to raise the bar even further in Season 2.”
