‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Whips Up Some Powerful Magic On Disney+

The ladies still have it.

Hocus Pocus 2–which debuted on Disney+ late last week–is the streamer’s most-viewed film premiere domestically to date, measured by hours watched in the first three days of its release, according to a report on comicbook.com.

The film–the much-anticipated sequel to the 1993 Disney original–currently has a 62 percent positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which places it on the low end of “fresh”.

Hocus Pocus 2–already being planned as a Broadway show–stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the sinister Sanderson Sisters in a tale that’s set 29 years after someone lit the Black Candle and resurrected the 17th-Century witches.

The film–directed by Anne Fletcher from a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo–follows three high school students as they try to stop the witchy trio “from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve,” according to the synopsis.

The sequel also stars Doug Jones (reprising his Billy Butcherson role), Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale and Sam Richardson.
