Richard Armitage, known for his recent role as Thorin Oaskensheild in the ‘Hobbit’ trilogy has been cast in NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ as Francis Dolarhyde, the serial killer also known as the ‘Tooth Fairy’. The official twitter for ‘Hannibal’ confirmed the news yesterday, which TV Line first reported. Ralph Fiennes portrayed Dolarhyde in the 2002 ‘Red Dragon’ film by Brett Ratner. Dolarhyde was also depicted in Michael Mann’s 1986 film ‘Manhunter’ by Tom Noonan. The Tooth Fairy got his name for the bit marks he likes to leave on his victims. Armitage has been cast in six episodes of the upcoming season of ‘Hannibal’. Season three of the show will focus on Hannibal’s (Mads Mikkelsen) time on the run after being exposed as a cannibalistic serial killer. No date has been confirmed yet for the season three premiere.
