More Halloween havoc is on the way.
The Hulu reboot of Clive Barker’s 1987 classic Hellraiser released a very brief teaser this week that announced the debut date for the much-anticipated film. Check out the short clip–courtesy of Deadline–on this page.
The reimagining–slated for Hulu Oct. 7–will feature a brand-new Pinhead and reportedly will follow the iconic puzzle box as it falls into the hands of a young woman dealing with addiction–who will now have to contend with the Cenobites.
The R-rated reboot from Spyglass Media Group is directed by David Bruckner from a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (from a story by David S. Goyer). The cast includes Jamie Clayton in the Pinhead role made famous by Doug Bradley, along with Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Falson, Aolfe Hinds and Hiam Abbass.
Barker–who serves as a producer on the film–said the remake “pays homage to what the first film created, but then takes it to places it’s never been before. David and his team are steeped in the story’s mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honor the original.”
The original Hellraiser–written and directed by Barker (and based on his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart)–deals with a mystical puzzle box that summons the Cenobites, sadomasochistic beings–led by Pinhead–who don’t know the difference between pleasure and pain.
