The folks at HBO have just released a teaser trailer for their upcoming Sharp Objects miniseries to coincide with the premiere of Westworld Season Two. The clip for the show- which is based on a novel by Gillain Flynn (the author of Gone Girl)- does not reveal many plot details, but it highlights numerous interesting characters and set pieces from the series.
Amy Adams will star in the series as Camille Preaker. Her character and story is revealed in the official synopsis for the show:
“…this eight-episode series tells the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.”
Sharp Objects will also star Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins and Matt Craven, and it will feature Sophia Lillis of It fame in a supporting role. The tone of the trailer’s soundtrack and the visuals suggest this will be a moody and atmospheric production, similar to what David Fincher did with his screen adaptation of Gone Girl. Sharp Objects will premiere on HBO in July of 2018. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more details on this exciting project as they break!
