After months of anticipation, HBO has finally provided a first look at Lovecraft Country, a terrifying new series brought to you by executive producers Jordan Peele, J.J. Abrams, and Misha Green (who also serves as showrunner). The frenetic shots of the trailer don’t give away too much of the action, but viewers can catch numerous glimpses of the all-star cast, the supernatural influences, and the creepy monsters… all set against the disturbing backdrop of 1950s American racism.

HBO released an official synopsis of the series to accompany today’s trailer:
“HBO’s new drama series, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, debuts this August. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.”
Lovecraft Country will debut on HBO in August, 2020. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for complete details on this exciting new project as soon as they break!
