Harry Hamlin Lands Regular Role on ‘Mayfair Witches’

The latest small-screen adaptation of an Anne Rice horror classic continues to flesh out its cast.

Emmy nominee Harry Hamlin (Mad Men)–perhaps best known to genre fans as Perseus in 1981’s Clash of the Titans–has signed on for the eight-episode first season of Mayfair Witches, according to a report on Deadline.

Hamlin will play Cortland Mayfair, described as “the reigning patriarch of the Mayfair clan, who has a voracious appetite for more money, more power and more life.”

Mayfair Witches–which inked its lead, Alexandra Daddario, earlier this month–is based on Rice’s bestselling Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy that revolves around a family of witches whose fortunes have been guided by a spirit named Lasher.

The show–expected to debut on AMC and AMC+ later this year–is led by Esta Spalding (as showrunner and writer) and Michelle Ashford (as writer and executive producer). AMC Studios is producing the series.

Mayfair Witches will join another Rice-inspired AMC series–Interview with the Vampire–which is in production with stars Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson.
