Happy Halloween From Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’

by Thomas Tuna

Who knows what Rob Zombie’s upcoming feature film adaptation of The Munsters will look like, but at least the outlandish filmmaker/musician seems to be in the Halloween spirit.

The director this week posted a cartoonish version of his Munsters clan wishing everyone a Happy Halloween, with Grandpa, Lily and Herman out for a night of trick ‘n treating. The greeting, courtesy of screenrant.com, can be seen on this page.

Earlier this month–as reported here in Horror News Network–Zombie finally announced the main cast for his film, tapping Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, his wife Sheri Moon as Lily and Daniel Roebuck as the cantankerous Grandpa.

The movie reboot of the classic ’60s TV show–expected to start filming soon in Hungary–does not yet have a debut date, but rumors have it enjoying a day-and-date release in theaters and on Peacock.

Zombie–a self-professed Munsters fanatic–reportedly has been hard at work, making sure the wardrobe and iconic mansion at 1313 Mockingbird Lane (“the most perfect Munsters house since 1964″) are as accurate as possible.

The Munsters–which ran for 70 episodes on CBS from 1964-1966–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Al Lewis as Grandpa, with Butch Patrick as Eddie and Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as Marilyn.
