Halloween Release Planned For Next ‘Tremors’ Adventure

Another popular horror franchise will add the latest chapter to its legacy this year–and just in time for Halloween!

The next Tremors movie Tremors: Island Fury –has wrapped filming, according to MovieWeb.com, and is well into the post-production phase. Despite the Hollywood snafus due to the COVID-19 crisis, this new film is still slated for release sometime this October.

The movie, as reported, will not have a theatrical release, so distribution shouldn’t be affected by the pandemic.

This will be the seventh movie in the Tremors saga, and lead actor Michael Gross has been along for the entire 30-year ride. Gross has portrayed Burt Gummer since the very first movie back in 1990.

When Gross appeared on a recent podcast, he said the film is “anticipated to come out in October, around Halloween of this year. As far as I know, it’s not been pushed back, since the editing process is something that doesn’t necessarily need a full studio to work on.”

Gross noted that Universal, the studio responsible for the film, has shut down many of its operations, but added that this shouldn’t have a negative effect on the movie. “Universal is, by and large, shut down–all its theme parks, its movie and television production–but I think this post-production is still continuing,” he said.

The plot outline for this new film is intriguing. The nasty Graboids have returned and have been illegally transported to an island by a wealthy playboy who’s looking for a one-of-a-kind hunt. Bang!

Gross will be joined in the movie by Jon Heder, Richard Brake, Caroline Langrishe, Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Matthew Douglas, Randy Kalsi, David Assavanon and Boonma Lamphun. Newcomers to the franchise–Iris Park, Aukrawut Rojaunawat and Bear Williams–also appear in the film.

Don Michael Paul sits in the director’s chair for this latest installment. The screenplay was written by Brian Brightly.
