Synopsis: Nick Burthardt is a Portland Detective who comes from a long line of “Grimms.” Grimm’s can peek under the mask of humanity and see the monsters within. Grimm is a weekly TV series on NBC.

Our Thoughts: I love the Grimm TV series. Its weekly mash up of monsters and fairy tales make for an interesting premise every week. Not watching the TV series is not a huge hindrance in reading this comic, but it would help if you knew the background for some of the characters.

Story: Nick, his partner, Detective Hank and the Blutbad Monroe (werewolf), one of the reformed monsters are on a mission in Vienna searching for some very magical coins. Nick’s mother had them last and she left a very cryptic message for Nick. Monster road trip with shenigians!

Art: Mr. Malaga gives the characters enough recognition artistically for me to see who’s who throughout the story. The shading and scratchy art give the book a gloomy and dark feel.

I cannot get enough of the Grimm TV series. This is another avenue for me to enjoy the adventures of the Grimm and his Scooby gang. I am on board for further adventures in this medium. There are things a comic can do that a TV series cannot. Cannot wait.
