“I want to send a message to Hell–that we are not afraid.”

Deus Irae–the feature debut of Argentine filmmaker Pedro Cristiani–will be introduced to buyers by XYZ Films during the upcoming American Film Market, according to a report in Variety. Check out the chilling trailer on this page.

Based on the short film of the same name, Deus Irae is produced by Molino Studio and Hudsonman Inc., and will premiere at the Mar Del Plata Film Festival next month.

The feature follows Father Javier, who helps families who claim to have witnessed miracles and who belongs to a trio of excommunicated priests “who hunt down the possessed to exorcise them under their own terms–with Bibles, fire and shotguns.”

But, when the cleric discovers “the only way to crush evil is to become something even worse, he questions how much of his own humanity–or sanity–he’s willing to sacrifice in order to defeat the Devil.”
