The goosebumps are starting.
Casting has begun on the Disney+ live-action Goosebumps series–based on the R.L. Stine books–with Justin Long (Drag Me to Hell) coming on board, according to a report in Variety.
Long reportedly will play Nathan Bratt, described as “the new school teacher who develops a terrifying connection to a decades-old supernatural murder.” The 10-episode series does not yet have a release window.
The show will follow a group of five high school students “who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must work together in order to save it–learning about their parents’ teenage secrets in the process,” according to the synopsis.
Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman serve as writers and executive producers, with Letterman also directing the first episode.
This will be the second live-action Goosebumps TV series, with the first running for four seasons and 74 episodes from 1996-1999. The books also were adapted into two feature films in 2015 and 2018–movies that earned more than $250 million at the box office.
