‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Sequel’s Star Praises New Film

Round 2 is still 16 months away, but it sounds like it’ll be worth the wait.

The sequel to last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong Battle of the Century–reportedly entitled Godzilla and Kong–has wrapped principal photography in Australia, and one of the film’s stars recently took a little time off to shed some light on the much-anticipated creature feature.

Rebecca Hall–returning from last year’s blockbuster–told the Herald Sun in Australia that there was little she could divulge about the upcoming movie–she’s been “NDA’d out the wazoo,” she joked–but she did say she “loved (director) Adam Wingard. He’s such a visionary in terms of a filmmaker, and I really enjoy being a part of his neon-inflected universe.”

The actor added that the cast and crew of the new film “are great. I was really excited to work with Brian Tyree Henry, who I didn’t get to work with on the last one. This time, we have a lot of stuff together, which was great. So, the whole thing was just delightful.”

The Legendary Pictures entry–directed by the returning Wingard from a screenplay by Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett–will undergo editing, special effects work and promotions throughout 2023, aiming for a March 2024 theatrical release.

The film reportedly follows last year’s showdown with a new adventure that pits the two behemoths against “a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world that challenges their very existence–as well as their own,” according to the brief synopsis.

Hall and Henry are joined in the cast by the returning Kaylee Hottle–along with newcomers Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns and Rachel House.
