‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Rematch Scheduled For March 2024

Looks like the two titans will have plenty of time to get in shape.

The sequel to last year’s blockbuster Godzilla vs. Kong from Legendary Pictures now has a release window, and fans can expect the next year-plus to bring lots of updates, teasers and publicity releases.

The next MonsterVerse entry will stomp into theaters March 15, 2024, according to a report on Deadline. The project–helmed again by Adam Wingard–will be produced by Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.

The only “human lead” announced at this early stage is Dan Stevens, in an as-yet-to-be-determined role. Stevens–perhaps best known for his starring role in 2017’s live-action Beauty and The Beast and in Legion on FX–worked with Wingard on 2014’s horror thriller The Guest.

Plot details on the sequel have been scarce, but it should be safe to assume the behemoths will tussle once again–probably with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance.

The sequel–reportedly filming under the working title of Son of Kong (could that be a hint?)–is expected to start shooting later this year in Queensland, Australia–specifically along the Gold Coast and the southeast portion of the continent.

The 2021 Battle of the Century became the second film of the pandemic era to break the $100-million mark at the domestic box office, on its way to a $468-million take worldwide.
