‘Godzilla: Minus One’ Passes $30M At Domestic Box Office

Now that’s something to roar about.

Godzilla: Minus One–which debuted three weeks ago with an A CinemaScore–continued its hot box office run this weekend, according to Variety.

The film–from writer/director Takashi Yamazaki–finished fourth in the domestic box office race this weekend, raking in another $5 million from 2,600 theaters–bringing its stateside take to more than $34 million so far.

The monster pic–set in post-war Japan–follows the exploits of a former kamikaze pilot during his country’s rebuilding efforts and the threats posed by the emergence of Godzilla.

The original 1954 Godzilla–from filmmaker Ishiro Honda–deals with Japanese authorities fighting for their lives against Godzilla–whose attacks trigger fear of a nuclear holocaust.
