“Well, I haven’t been in show business as long as you have, Killian. But I’m a quick learner. So, I’m going to give the audience what I think they want.”

Another Stephen King novel (released as Richard Bachman) heads to the big screen, again. Glen Powell (Top Gun Maverick, Anyone But You) has signed on to start in Paramount’s reboot of The Running Man with Edgar Wright directing and producing.

The novel is set in a dystopian United States during the year 2025, in which the nation’s economy is in ruins and world violence is rising. The story follows protagonist Ben Richards as he participates in the reality show The Running Man, in which contestants win money by evading a team of hitmen sent to kill them.

Directed by Paul Michael Glaser and released on the big screen on November 13, 1987, The Running Man brought home $38.1 million on a $32 million budget. The film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, María Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto and Richard Dawson.
