“Please explain to me the scientific nature of the whammy.”

Dana Scully had it all, beauty and brains. And, according to a report on Deadline, we could see Gillian Anderson return to portray the character if an X-Files reboot happens.

Gillian Anderson appeared as a guest on Wednesday’s episode of the Today show where she talked about Ryan Coogler’s potential reboot of the series.

“Ryan Coogler, who is the director of Black Panther — brilliant, brilliant director — has approached Chris Carter to say that he wants to do a take on it, and I cannot think of a better way around for a reboot to happen,” Anderson said. “Whether I am involved in it is a whole other thing. I’m not saying no. I think he’s really cool and I think if he did it, it would probably be done incredibly well. And maybe I’ll pop in for a little something something.”

On September 10, 1993 Fox debuted The X-Files, a series that would eventually take the network to new heights. Created by Chris Carter, the series revolved about FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). The show focused on aliens, paranormal happenings, conspiracies, and government coverups. The series was a cult hit and over the years it grew into a massive success drawing an average of near 20 million viewers per episode.
