‘Ghostbusters’ Animated Series In Development At Netflix

Never gonna run out of ghosts to bust.

Off the success of their live-action feature Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are on board as executive producers of a brand-new Ghostbusters animated series for Netflix, according to a report on Variety.

Plot details of the Sony Pictures Animation project are being kept secret at this time, and no writers have yet signed on. Production will be handled by Netflix and Ghost Corps, Inc.

This will be the third animated Ghostbusters series–with The Real Ghostbusters airing for 140 episodes on ABC from 1986-1991, and Extreme Ghostbusters running for another 40 episodes in syndication.

The success of the original 1984 Ghostbusters feature–directed by Ivan Reitman from a screenplay by stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Remis–led to Ghostbusters 2 in 1989, a reboot in 2014 and last year’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife–which scared up nearly $200 million worldwide.
