The trailer–narrated by Bruce Campbell (Ash Williams, of course)–teases how players will be able to “work together as a team of four survivors–exploring, looting, crafting, managing your fear and finding key artifacts to seal the breach between worlds,” according to the game description.
Gamers also will be able to “take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment and even the survivors themselves as you seek to swallow their souls.”
The game is a co-op and PvP multiplayer title for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
In addition to Campbell voicing all the different versions of Ash, other fan-favorite characters will return–including Betsy Baker as Linda, Theresa Tilly as Shelly, Ellen Sandweiss as Cheryl Williams, Marcus Gilbert as Arthur, Richard DeManincor as Scotty, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell.
The 1981 The Evil Dead film–written and directed by Sam Raimi–follows five college students vacationing in an isolated cabin who find an audio tape that, when played, releases a horde of demons and spirits. The horror classic earned anywhere from $3 million to $29 million worldwide (the total differs wildly) on a budget of just $375,000.
