The mad road beckons

The new film–directed by George Miller from a screenplay he wrote with Nico Lathouris–will star Taylor-Joy in the titular role, alongside Chris Hemsworth (famed for his Thor role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Tom Burke.
The pic reportedly will detail the origins of Furiosa–played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road–in the years before she teamed up with Max Rockatansky. Set some years before Fury Road, it will show Furiosa as a young, less war-torn character–as she’s taken from her home in “The Green Place of Many Mothers” and becomes involved with the Warlord Dementus and his terrifying Biker Horde.
Hemsworth’s villainous role in the prequel is still unclear at this point. Will he portray Dementus or a young Immortan Joe? Stay tuned. What is known is that Furiosa will be sporting her trademark metal arm in the film.
Mad Max: Fury Road–directed by Miller from a screenplay he wrote with Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy–was a critical success (earning 10 Academy Award nominations), but disappointed at the box office, where it earned $375 million globally on a budget of $185 million.
