‘Fresh’ Puts Brand-New Spin On Hunger For Horror

Talking about biting the hand that feeds you!

Fresh–a new dating flick with a terrible twist–is heading to Hulu March 4 “fresh” off its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. And a trailer and poster to whet your appetite (pun intended)–courtesy of screenrant.com–can be seen on this page.

Fresh–from director Mimi Cave (Vessel) and screenwriter Lauryn Kahn (The Other Guys)–stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) in a bizarre love story.

The storyline follows Noa (Edgar-Jones), a young woman fed up with dating apps and bad dates, who bumps into Steve (Stan) in a grocery store. When Noa agrees to go away with Steve for the weekend, things get…dicey.

Edgar-Jones said the film sheds light on the challenges women face “in the world of dating now and in dating apps” and explores “the general level of fear we live with as women without really realizing it–even just walking home at night or meeting a stranger on a date.”

In directing this film, Cave said she was “drawn more into the sort of power dynamics of the love relationship, and taking that into different, more over-the-top aspects. I knew I had to tap into something more personal to really get myself there and wrap myself around this world.”
