“It’s alive!” Frankenstein’s monster–arguably the most iconic horror figure of them all–is now a collectible from Trick or Treat Studios.
The new Universal Classic Monsters–Frankenstein’s Monster Statue, based on the venerable 1931 Frankenstein, is due for release Nov. 1, according to news.toyark.com.
The statue–standing 15 inches tall and cast in resin–features two interchangeable portraits. One portrait is based on the classic film; the other on the test makeup that was not used in the movie. The unforgettable makeup for the film was done by Jack Pierce.
The figure–which comes in a special collector’s box–was sculpted by William Paquet. The collectible–priced at $199.99–can be pre-ordered from Trick or Treat Studios.
Frankenstein–starring Boris Karloff and Colin Clive–was directed by James Whale from a screenplay by Francis Edward Faragoh and Garrett Fort that was based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel.
The film–now considered an all-time classic–was a commercial and critical success during its era. In fact, a New York Times critic wrote, “There is no denying that it is far and away the most effective thing of its kind. Beside it, Dracula is tame.” The Count likely was not pleased with that review.
