Deadline is reporting that Fox has order a pilot for The Passage, a series based on novels by Justin Cronin.
The adaptation is written by Liz Heldens with Matt Reeves signed on to direct.
The Passage tells the story of an apocalyptic future that is overrun by vampires infected by a highly contagious virus. Set in 2016 and spanning more than ninety years, the book follows colonies of humans attempting to survive bloodthirsty creatures.
The news of a pilot has been a long time coming for The Passage as it’s road to the screen started in 2007. Producers eventually determined that the book was better set for TV rather than a feature film.
