“God’s anger has come down upon this vessel.”
The Last Voyage of the Demeter–the big-screen adaptation of one chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic Dracula–is just weeks away from theaters now, and three new brief clips preview the perils faced by the doomed ship’s crew.
The Universal/Dreamworks pic–slated for an Aug. 11 release–is directed by Andre Ovredal from a screenplay by Bragi Schut, Stefan Ruzowitsky and Zak Olkewicz, and follows the course of the merchant ship Demeter as it sails from Carpathia to London. The vessel carries 50 unmarked wooden crates–and one very dangerous passenger.
In the feature, the crew is stalked every night by “a merciless presence aboard the ship.” And, when the ship lands in England, the vessel is a “charred, derelict wreck–and there’s no trace of the crew.”
The cast includes Javier Botet as Dracula–along with Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jo Jo Briones, Stefan Kapicic and Nikolai Nikolaeff.
