First Trailer Drops For Horror Feature ‘Play Dead’

by Thomas Tuna

Playing dead can lead to the real thing.

Play Dead–a horror entry from Voltage Pictures that premiered at Cannes last year–has released a trailer before its UK theatrical debut March 17, according to a report on Screen Daily. A wide release date is still pending, but the trailer on this page offers a good sneak peek at the feature.

The horror pic–directed by Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3D) from a screenplay by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes–stars Bailee Madison, Jerry O’Connell, Anthony Turpei, Chris Butler, Chris Lee and Jorge-Luis Pallo.

Madison said the feature–which was filmed in the morgue of an abandoned asylum–is “unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s really horrifying. The film takes place in a morgue, and that’s all I can say.”

In the film, criminology student Chloe (Madison) “fakes her own death in order to break into a local morgue to steal a piece of evidence that ties her younger brother to a crime,” according to the synopsis.

But, once inside the morgue, Chloe discovers that the coroner (O’Connell) is using the business to sell body parts. Worse yet, when the coroner learns Chloe isn’t dead, a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse take place.
