First Clip From ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Just A Tease

For those horror fans hungry for a tasty mouthful from the much-hyped Godzilla vsKong, the clip released this week is barely a scrap dropped from the banquet table.

But it is food of a sort. Quick and easy to swallow.

The brief clip–check it out on this page–comes from the recent Comic Con Experience and is the first (but hopefully not the last) of the teasers of the Battle of the Ages that will have the two iconic monsters duking it out.

The teaser–courtesy of a report on–shows Godzilla streaking through the ocean and Kong unleashing one of his trademark roars. Was that the bell for Round 1?

The Legendary Pictures big-screen blockbuster is lined up to be the fourth entry in the MonsterVerse series that includes Godzilla (2014), KongSkull Island (2017) and GodzillaKing of the Monsters (2019).

Godzilla vsKong reportedly will continue to chronicle the activities of Monarch, the secret organization that wants to study–and battle with–the monstrous duo. The organization will no doubt play a key role in the upcoming film, as hinted at in the official synopsis. In this new world of man and monsters, Monarch “must lead the way to a prosperous future alongside the titans, keeping humanity in check.”

However, problems will arise when “rival factions that want to manipulate the titans for war begin to rise under the guise of a nefarious conspiracy, threatening to wipe out all life on the planet.” Meanwhile, back on Skull Island, “strange seismic activity draws the attention of Godzilla and Kong alike.” Almost never a good thing.

The movie–from director Adam Wingard and screenwriters Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein–was supposed to premiere earlier this year but, due to the pandemic, was moved back to May 21, 2021–as reported here in Horror News Network–when it will debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. This will be the 36th movie for Godzilla, and the 12th for Kong.
